The Employee Recognition Awards highlight staff members who embody the district’s values and commitment to student learning. Nominations are open to every staff member in Battle Ground Public Schools. The selection criteria include commitment to the district’s mission, contribution to a safe environment, support for high-quality instruction and collaborative behavior demonstrating trust and respect. Daniela Alexakis, health and fitness teacher, Yacolt Primary School
Daniela is a dedicated teacher who teaches students much more than just physical education; she inspires them to be well-rounded, confident individuals. Her passion for student wellness is evident in the way she connects with each child, making PE a highlight of their day. Daniela’s creativity and commitment led her to establish the Yacolt Primary Running Club, which has encouraged students to be active, build confidence and strengthen their school community. In just two months, students ran more than 2,500 miles. Daniela’s dedication to her students and school is unmatched. She has created something truly special at Yacolt Primary, and her impact will be felt for years to come.
Vicki Goodard, Chartwells lead, Chief Umtuch Middle School
Vicki plays a vital role in ensuring students have a positive experience in the cafeteria. She is incredibly thoughtful, always remembering students’ food preferences and making sure they have what they need. She goes the extra mile to support students with special needs, working closely with staff to create an inclusive environment. Whether helping a student log in for lunch or ensuring early release students receive their meals, Vicki is always there to help. She leads with kindness and patience, making the cafeteria a welcoming place. Her dedication and care make a real difference in students’ lives. Vicki’s hard work deserves recognition, and the school is lucky to have her!
Kristina Heikes, center-based classroom teacher, Daybreak Middle School
Kristina is a passionate teacher who constantly finds creative ways to support her students. Whether implementing sensory-friendly activities or developing personalized learning plans, she is always looking for ways to help each child succeed. She collaborates with teachers and specialists to ensure students receive the resources they need to thrive. Beyond academics, Kristina focuses on building confidence and self-advocacy skills, celebrating student growth at every level. She understands the importance of involving families in learning and regularly communicates with parents to provide support. Kristina’s dedication, kindness and ability to build strong relationships make her an invaluable part of the school community. She truly changes lives.
Tina Yorke, counseling secretary, Prairie High School
Tina is an essential part of Prairie’s counseling office. She greets everyone with a bright smile and a positive attitude, making the office a welcoming place for students, parents and staff. Tina balances supporting the school counselors while handling countless daily tasks, always staying patient and kind. No matter how busy she is, she never complains and is always ready to help. Her compassion and dedication make a lasting impact on those around her. Tina makes a difference in so many lives every single day. Her hard work, kindness and willingness to go above and beyond make her truly irreplaceable. Prairie is lucky to have her!
