Student Spotlights
Student Spotlight – Chief Umtuch Middle School students in the news!
We’re proud of the accomplishments of our Wolverines! Below you’ll find links to some of the most recent coverage of our students.
DREAM Team
The Chief Umtuch DREAM Team has been busy:
Harvest Days where they marched in the parade
National Night Out where they shared their vaping posters and some vaping facts with people of all ages (including Denny Waters-see photo).
Welcome back posters and hanging banners in the school.
The theme they chose for this year is “Ignite the FUSE to live your Spark.” FUSE is an acronym for Find it, Use it, Experience it, and Share it with others. Large banners with this message are hung in the main entry of the school.
Organized several activities for Red Ribbon Week.
They partnered with Lewis River Rotary to plant red tulip bulbs at Central Park.
brought back the “Thankfulness Tree” again this year but with a “spark” twist. During lunch in the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving, students wrote out what they were thankful for in relation to their sparks. Those were added to the tree and the result was a very colorful tree that “spark-led” with positivity.
students attended the Use Your Voice youth advocacy training where they learned about how laws are made at our state capital and how you can advocate for policy change and legislation by talking to your local and state lawmakers and making your voice heard.
Micah Hoyt and Bringham Sorensen braved the rain and wind to help out at the “Shave Ice and Photos with Santa” fundraiser which, thanks to the generosity of The Pupu Shack Shave Ice Truck, raised funds to support the DREAM Team.
Tyler and Haley Smithvolunteered to help Prevent Together at the Holiday Tree Lighting where they helped the little kids to make paper snowflakes.
Chief Students perform “Music Man Jr.”
Chief Umtuch Middle School was pleased to present four performances of the renowned musical “Music Man Jr.” Based on the popular play and book, Meredith Wilson’s The Music Man is a lot of things. It’s a tribute to early 20th century Americana. It’s a tongue-in-cheek stereotype of the stubborn Midwest mindset(Wilson grew up in the small town of Mason City, Iowa). It’s a collage of the pros and cons of living in a small town. But, most of all, this show is a testament to the power of music.
Sports Return to Battle Ground middle schools!
