Each semester, CASEE students are expected to perform several hours of community service; 7.5 hours or more off campus and 15 hours on campus per semester. On-campus Service Learning takes place several Fridays per month for an average of 1.5 hours. Students work in mixed grade level work groups focusing on a different project each round of Service Learning. Through these projects, students learn a variety of skills including landscape design and maintenance, plant identification & propagation, greenhouse operations, organic gardening, construction, trail maintenance, environmental education and much more. This aspect of the program gives students an opportunity to develop the work skills they will need later in life, earn community service hours to put on their resumes, and help maintain the CASEE campus.
